Lawson Centre Nutrition Digital Series
Dietary Patterns in the Management of Cardiometabolic Disease
February 8 – June 6, 2024 - Digital Series
Nutrition is a key tenet in the prevention and management of many chronic diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and obesity. Despite this, nutrition education is limited in many Canadian medical school curricula, resulting in medical trainees and practicing physicians feeling ill-prepared to provide nutrition advice to their patients and their families.
The Lawson Centre Digital Series aims to bridge this gap by providing physicians and healthcare providers with a comprehensive overview of topics in clinical nutrition relevant to primary care.
The series will consist of ten, one hour-long interactive webinars presented by clinicians, scientists, and registered dietitians. In 2024, the series will focus on 5 different dietary practices relevant to cardiometabolic disease presented from the perspective of physicians, scientists and registered dietitian. Each session will provide evidence-based support, and introduce practical counseling strategies to help participants feel more confident in incorporating nutrition counseling into their practice. Participants will be provided with a 1-page summary, 1-week post-session with key messages and practical approaches.
